‘Jay’s Search’ Returns With Second Season

The second edition of Jay’s Search the entertaining talent show is set to kick off soonest.
The talent show which was setup in 2009 in honour of the late Jaiye Aboderin by his sister Wumni and husband Tunde Obe promises to be more interesting as a series of activities are planned out for this year’s edition.
This year’s auditions will be divided into two stages – The online stage and the live stage. Entries will be received via online and 20 contestants will be shortlisted for the live auditions after which six will be selected for the finals in December. This was revealed by the planning committee made up of Angela Emuwa, Tunde and Wunmi Obe, Segun Giwa, Wole Adenmosun, Kunle Komolafe, Wole Aboderin, Foluso Olateju-Leigh and Tony Anifite.
According to organizers, the audience will be asked to vote for the contestant of their choice. Votes will make only 40 percent of overall votes. The remaining 60 percent will be determined but three yet-to-be named judges.
The winner of the show will walk away with the cash prize of N250,000 and a recording deal under the Obe’s KopyKats Records. The first and second runners up will win N100,000 and N75,000 respectively. The other three finalists won’t be left as they will also receive consolation prizes of N50,000.
We embarked on this project to carry on with what Jaiye loved which was supporting young up-and-coming artistes to develop their talents and assist them in making an impact in the entertainment industry’, Wunmi Obe says.
On December 3, 2009, 23-year-old undergraduate, OluwaSunbo Olundegun also known as ‘Big Ma’ emerged winner of the first edition of Jay’s Search back in 2009 and walked home with a cash prize of N150,000, a record deal with T.W.O’s Kopykats Entertainment.
Jaiye Aboderin died on December 3, 2004, aged 33. He slumped and died after a game of basketball. He left behind a wife- Actress Stella Damasus and two daughters, Angelica and Isabel.
